What’s New in the Wood?

Over the past twelve months, a small cottage industry has grown up in the wood with the sale of surplus logs and mulch. If you would like a small bag of logs or mulch for £1 please come to the wood in a Friday morning or alternatively contact us on 07836 710360.

There has also been a ‘Plant a Tree’ scheme, whereby for a small donation of only £2 people can plant a tree and name it for someone special. All donations and money made have been re-invested in new trees and equipment. During the winter planting season this last year, over 200 new trees and shrubs have been planted. The volunteers have also purchased major items of new equipment from money which has been donated and all of this is helping to maintain and improve the wood for all.

In addition, some volunteers have been busy making bird and bat boxes for the large and varied bird population in the wood. These have been made to RSPB design and it was pleasing to see that many birds took up residence in these new ‘homes’ during last Spring!

Spot the bird box!!

A new project is being developed to offer a small variety of cards for sale in the wood in coming months.

In the meantime, why not come and join us? New volunteers are always welcome.
